Assisted a global company trading products under duty-free and duty-paid regime on board of airplanes and in specialized airport shops worldwide in front of the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) in an arbitration case initiated by the client against the Romanian state for damages caused by the abusive loss of contracts for duty-free sales in a Bucharest international airport and in-flight sales on Tarom aircrafts and for breach of international economic treaties and bilateral agreements related to investments; project value: USD 110 million.
Assisted one of the world’s leading suppliers of hydroelectric equipment, technology and services on Romanian legal matters in connection with the international arbitration case between the client and a Romanian state-owned hydropower company (also representing Romania’s largest power producer) in connection with a contractual breach.
Assisted one of Romania’s most important EPC contractors, covering with its projects entire energy chain – from energy generation to transmission, distribution and supply in an ad-hoc arbitration case and subsequent litigation cases – maintaining the favorable arbitral decision – filed for a claim of EUR 1 million arising in connection with the performance of a public works FIDIC contract with a total value of EUR 10.5 million.
Assisted private investors active in the constructions field in an arbitration case filed against the clients in front of Vienna International Arbitral Centre for claims arising from alleged breach of the sale and purchase agreement afferent to a share deal regarding a major metal constructions company; project value: EUR 8 million.
Assisted a State authority active in waterway operation in a series of procedures in front of the FIDIC Dispute Adjudication Board for claims filed against the client by a foreign construction consortium contracted by the client under Red FIDIC Book to perform construction works; obtained a positive outcome for the client in these procedures, by which one initial claim of the contractor was significantly reduced and the other one rejected in its entirety.
Assisted a Greek-based industrial conglomerate active in metallurgy, energy, engineering and defense in an arbitration case concerning post-privatization investment obligations and the monitoring of environmental obligations related to the non-ferrous casting industry, settled under the UNCITRAL model rules.
Assisted a hotel chain operator during conciliation procedures with another hotel chain for settlement of fees related to management and operation of several hotels, a case settled in front of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) International Court of Arbitration.
Assisted local and multinational companies active in a variety of industries on international arbitration cases, including several FIDIC based constructions related projects, with rendered services ranging from extensive assessment of potential disputes to be settled by means of arbitration, to representation in all phases of the arbitral proceedings settled under various international arbitration rules.
Assisted the leading Romanian cable TV operator and a major broadband internet and alternative voice services provider, part of the international leading communications group Liberty Media Inc., in an international arbitration procedure conducted at the London Court of Arbitration in accordance with the Rules of Arbitration of the Paris ICC for the release of a Holdback Amount in a dispute related to the agreement for the sale and purchase of shares.
